Final Boss in Gael's Castle - Odallus: The Dark Call 100% Walkthrough
4The first part of the fight consists of him dashing toward you & swinging at you. He has a number of different swings & will swing 1, 2, or 3 times. Entice him into swinging at you by jumping over him & landing right behind him then immediately dashing away. The best time to strike him is when his only slash is a downward slash or when he does a triple slash (because the 3rd slash will always be a downward slash). The reason attacking after a downward slash is the best is because he never immediately follows it up with another slash so you can safely get some hits in. If he doesn't slash downwards then it's best to not bother trying to damage him as it's too risky. Keep hitting him this way until he talks.
Part 2 (1:17): Similar to the 1st part with some notable exceptions. Now the triple slice isn't guaranteed safe as he adds a new slash, when he swings a short energy wave is released. If he strikes downward & there's no energy then you can try to go in for an attack, but the best times to attack are when he puts his hand up to shoot energy (the 2nd time he does this will immediately be followed by another hand attack so use that to your advantage) & when he is in the air to do his icicle throwing attack or his ghost projection attack (the latter until he starts flashing at which point you can't damage him). Dodging the ghost attack is tricky, first he has 1 come from the right side, then the left, then 1 from both sides, then 1 from the center air, then 4. There isn't a super easy way to dodge the 4, your only option is to jump to the middle of the screen on either end to get between the 2 on that side then quickly land & jump to dodge 1 coming from the other side. Attack him as you can to finish this part.
Part 3 (2:15): The jewel is his only weakpoint. Hit the jewel once at the start if you can, then dodge the blasts. Hit the jewel again then go to the right as he teleports to the center. Hit the jewel again then dodge the beams in a counter clockwise fashion. Hit the jewel some more when the beams stop. He'll teleport to the left. Hit the Jewel then dodge the blasts by hopping around the platforms. Wail on the jewel some more. He'll teleport again where you're standing & release a huge energy blast (get out of the way fast).
If he gets the chance to do another moving beam attack it will now alternate directions so be careful. From here on this attack can either alternate or not. You can just barely tell if it will alternate by whether or not it speeds up shortly after the attack starts moving (if it speeds up then it won't alternate). It's best to assume it will alternate until you see the speed up. He also has an attack where he shoots a ball from his hand at the ground beneath you which causes several vertical lines of energy to appear around where it landed (move to the side to dodge). Keep hitting the jewel until he is defeated.
