Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment Map 11 UV Tyson in 3:54 by TheMBmulti
Avete everyone! A bit of an unusual video than what I normally upload, but here's a speedrun of map 11 of Plutonia on UV Tyson. I've been practicing this map for a while now and I've finally made it under the 4 minute mark. So enjoy the result of hours upon hours of stress and practice as I tear through 'Hunted', UV Tyson style.
Goal: Beat Map 11 of Plutonia, in UV Tyson, as fast as possible.
UV Tyson: Ultra-Violence Tyson, finishing a level as fast as possible in Ultra-Violence, killing every monster at least once, except lost souls, with the following restrictions: no weapons other than the fist, berserk fist, chainsaw, and pistol may be used.*
Level specifics:

Enemies: 18 (Arch-Vile)

Thoughts:
So it has finally happened, a UV Tyson run of Hunted below 4 minutes. I set a 4:01 before, with some bad luck at the start, so I really thought that it would be possible to go sub 4. The route I take throughout the level in the beginning makes sure that you grab all the keys before you make the other Arch-Viles spawn. I figured that making them spawn right after grabbing the beserk resulted in backtracking and moving through areas twice or maybe three times, which makes you lose time. Also by opening both bars you can very easily reach the exit teleporter once all Arch-Viles are dead.
So the route is quite simple. I start by moving a bit to the side at the first switch to reduce the amount of Arch-Viles that teleport in (there's a proper setup for that somewhere, but I haven't figured it out, so it's mostly an RNG thing for me). Then move to the yellow key asap, move back and to the yellow switch, and then back again to the opened yellow bars. Pretty much the same as if you were doing a UV Speed or Pacifist run (also important, don't make noise, we don't want the dormant Archies in here yet). After I reach the beserk I make my way to the red key and swing my first once I'm there to wake up the other Arch-Viles.
It is important you are at the red key area when the Arch-Viles wake up because two Arch-Viles always spawn here, and because this area is quite annoyingly out of the way of anything else, you can lose a lot of time backtracking there to kill them later if you haven't. So from the red key area, you kill the 2 Arch-Viles and move through the rest of the level by going to the red switch first.
I got a bit of bad luck at the red key because 1 Arch-Vile was already there and rushed me, leaving me with no cover. I took the hit (because if I stepped out the other one would've killed me) and killed them both. In the long hallway you'll always find 2 more Arch-Viles. Be careful when you cross the second trigger when leaving the red key area, because it opens a door behind you that can release 1 or 2 more Arch-Viles in this area. Luckily for me, 1 Arch-Vile followed me in the long hallway when I grabbed the beserk and only 1 enetered through the door (it got a bit hectic there). The other 2 Arch-Viles (that always spawn in the long hallway) almost always bunch up in that small dead end to the side.
When I reached the red bars I had 6 kills already which is nice, for the rest of the route you just backtrack towards the deaf Arch-Vile and kill everything along the way. With some luck no Arch-Vile will have moved back to the beginning area and the deaf Arch-Vile should be your final kill.
It could perhaps be a viable strategy to wake up the deaf Arch-Vile on your way back from grabbing the yellow key to cause it to roam around. Might have to experiment with that. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how all of this went!
Also I know this is a recording and not an actual demo, so chances of this being included are slim, but still I'm proud of this video :). Maybe I'll record a proper demo someday (as soon as I don't get panic attacks from hearing Arch-Vile noises anymore...)
