This shows how to make runs to a chest in the Necrohol in order to obtain a Defender. This can be done even with level 1 characters if that was possible. The Defender has huge attack power and a nice evade bonus. It utterly out-classes all other weapons available at the time besides Zodiac Spear which we already have the only one (until much later) and Save the Queen (which is harder to obtain)

This challenge run/starting method gets the Zodiac Spear in less than 3:50:00 with character levels of 7,2,7,9,9,9 with Baltheir or Fran being left at level 2 to make using the under flow glitch possible later on.

The funny thing about this method is that it ends with only 1 Ether or 0 most likely, 1 Teleport Stone, 27 Gil and no equipment or weapons whatsoever besides the Zodiac Spear. A testament to its efficiency I say but I challenge anybody to get the spear faster while I know it's very possible with tons of resets. The idea behind this method is to have really minimal restting required and it has no rare drops used from monsters so no 7-hour burning bow marathons.
