Final Fantasy 7 Remake Classic Mode & Summons (How FF7 Remake Nailed TGS 2019)
Square Enix took things to another level at the Tokyo Game Show.
Not only did we get a brand new FF7 Remake trailer which gave us our first look at the The Turks, Shiva, Ifrit and a brand new member of SOLDIER – and Don Corneo of course – but we also got an in-depth look at some new features during the stage presentation.

At the TGS live presentation, Kitase revealed the differences between Final Fantasy 7 Remake's standard battle system and the Classic Mode.
While the Classic Mode is similar in the sense that the ATB gauge still needs to be filled before a special action can be executed, it takes the responsibility for filling the gauge away from us, the player.
On Classic Mode, Square Enix have said: "We've talked before about how Final Fantasy 7 Remake's combat system is all about giving players a choice in how to play, and this new mode adds even more options."
While the Classic Mode announcement has stolen most of the headlines, let's not forget about the other awesome revelation which also came out of the FF7 Remake show at TGS. Summons!
While there had been some evidence about the inclusion of summons – not least the fact that the Cactuar and Chocobo Chick materia are included with pre-orders of the game – nothing concrete had been seen until Shiva and Ifrit popped up to make a surprise appearance in the most recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer.
Square Enix said that "in the battle against Aps, Cloud had the Ifrit Summon Materia equipped - because of this his attacks cause a Summon gauge to fill up."
"Once the Summon Gauge was full, Cloud was able to summon Ifrit onto the battlefield, where he stays and joins the fight! Summons are typically controlled by the AI, but characters are able to use their ATB charges to use unique Summon abilities."
Are you excited by the prospect of being able to switch between the standard and classic battle systems? Are you glad to see a return to ATB? And what do you think of the fact that the summons will be able to fight alongside the characters in battle? Drop your comments below!
