Zidane and co finally reach the bottom and it looks really eerie. A creature comes up to the group aggressively, telling them that it was the one who created the Mist as a way to stimulate the fighting instinct to end all civilization and that Kuja was using the by product of the Mist to create weapons of war like the Black Mages.

Vivi has had enough and a battle with the creature ensues. Sure enough, after the tree like creature is defeated, the Mist disappears.
