While playing around with memory values, I found out what is used to keep track of the sprites for a character. This is used to determine if Dark Knight or Paladin Cecil is displayed, as well as Child or Adult Rydia. I happened to find a value that causes Golbez's sprites to appear.

So what happens when I make Cecil, Golbez? Funny things happen!

Sadly, the game is unwinnable in this state. The game sequence after Mist fails to load the necessary info and I'm stuck on that map.
