This is video #036 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years for the PC. This is episode 3 of The Lunarians' Tale: The Blue Planet That Was.

Previously, Golbez and Fusoya investigated the Impact Crater on the Moon. They defeated the Mysterious Girl, who had command of Asura. Now, they will investigate the Lair of the Father and check on Bahamut.

Lunar Surface:

The party resumes at the entrance to the Lair of the Father in the east of the Lunar Surface. They head inside.

Lair of the Father (time 0:17):

The Lair of the Father is laid out as it was in Final Fantasy IV. The party starts on floor B1.

In the southwest, a chest contains an Aura Staff. Fusoya equips this for a decent Spirit boost.

Past a hidden passage, a chest in the northeast contains a Dry Ether.

Fusoya reaches Level 35.

In the southeast, the party goes downstairs to floor B2.

Golbez reaches Level 36.

In the west of B2, there are two chests obscured by a pillar. They contain an Ether and an Ice Shield. Golbez equips the Ice Shield for higher fire resistance.

At the start of the narrow path leading north, the party finds a hideous Count Malboro. To keep from being affected by its Bad Breath, Golbez and Fusoya should keep Rune Armlets on. The Count Malboro can also spew Poison Gas, which inflicts Poison. The party can heal this with Antidotes after the battle.

Before continuing, the party rests and saves at the save point in the east.

In the northeast, the party continues downstairs to floor B3.

Fusoya reaches Level 36.

Along the narrow passage to the western part of B3, the party encounters another Count Malboro. There are two along the passage in the 2D versions of the game.

Golbez reaches Level 37.

A scene takes place when the party climbs Bahamut's dais. They decide to return to the Crystal Palace and check on the Crystals.

When the party is done here, they Teleport out of the dungeon.

Lunar Surface (time 24:44):

On their way to the Crystal Palace, the party first stops by the Hummingway Abode.

Hummingway Above (time 26:48):

The party visits the sundries shop to stock up on more consumables.

Lunar Surface (time 27:37):

The party returns to the Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace (time 27:46):

They use the MP restoration tile. Then, they go back outside.

Lunar Surface (time 28:15):

The party saves before going back in.

Crystal Palace (time 28:26):

A scene takes place when the party goes upstairs to floor 2F. Uh oh, the Crystals are not looking good! Worse yet, the palace has a "mysterious" intruder.

After the scene, the party has a rematch against the Mysterious Girl. This time, she summons Leviathan. Leviathan's Tidal Wave is powerful, so it is critical for Fusoya to stay on top of healing. The Mysterious Girl is in the back row as before, so powerful Black Magic is the way to go. Also as before, the Mysterious Girl is the primary target.

Another scene takes place after the battle. Yikes! This explains why she seemed to be in so many places during the previous tales. The party decides to head back to the Lunar Core to protect their comrades.

After the scene, the party goes back downstairs to heal up. Then, they leave the palace.

Lunar Surface (time 37:51):

The party saves. Then, they reenter the palace.

Crystal Palace (time 38:01):

Upstairs, the party uses the teleporter to enter the Lunar Subterrane.

Lunar Subterrane (time 38:19):

The party starts on floor B1. They will now face random encounters, but at least they can explore the side paths for treasures.

The party takes the hidden path to the west. The portal takes them to the eastern side of the room, where they find a stairway to B2.

They arrive in the eastern section of B2. Just north of the stairway, a chest contains an X-Potion. The teleporter to the west leads to the western section of B2.

Fusoya reaches Level 37.

In the southwest, the party goes downstairs to the southwest section of floor B3. There is nothing to find here.

Fusoya casts Warp a couple of times to return the party to floor B1. The party takes the southern stairway down to B2.

Golbez reaches Level 38.

On B2, they go around to the northwest section and take the stairway down to floor B3. During the floor change, a scene takes place in the Crystal Palace. Not good!

On B3, the party can now explore the hidden passages in the southeast.

Past the first hidden passage, a chest contains a Dry Ether. In the southern section, chests contain a Decoy and an Icebrand. Finally, a decent weapon! Golbez equips the Icebrand.

Back in the main section of B3, the party uses the healing pot in the northeast. Then, they go downstairs to B4.
