Chapter 3: The Valiant
Locations: Inside of Riovanes Castle
Riovanes Castle (リオファネス城, Riofanesu-jou) is the stronghold of Grand Duke Barrington in Final Fantasy Tactics. Riovanes Castle is the second place in Final Fantasy Tactics to have Chain battles. Here in this castle, three different chain battles are fought. It is also necessary to build up a stock of items and armor before going into this castle. Also, keeping a backup save file on the world map is recommended. It is the site of Ramza Beoulve's battle with Wiegraf, who then transforms into Belias during a Lucavi attack on the castle in which Hashmal goes on a rampage, killing many of the castle's defenders. Wiegraf is quite strong and to the average player with neutral compatibility, will deal 140 damage per turn. There are some ways to get the edge in this battle. When he uses his Lightning Stab, the game thinks it is Holy Elemental even though it is not. Wearing a Chameleon Robe which absorbs Holy will trick Wiegraf into using other attacks that are less damaging.
My Chosen Strategy: Wizard Ramza (Nothing worse than a Multiclassing Wizard named Gandalf, Am I right?)
I came up with this strategy a couple years ago when thinking about and planning for the Wiegraf duel and observing what equipment is available before facing him. Considering the late Balbanes told Ramza to become a fine Knight, I figure that most players will probably stick to the Squire and Knight class and Ramza just might possibly learn some Fire or Ice magic along the way even if from an enemy crystal.
Equipment: Wizard Rod (MA + 2), Flame Shield (Absorb Fire), Golden Hairpin (Lots of MP and Protect vs Silence), Black Robe (Strengthen: Fire, Lightning, Ice), Magic Gauntlet (MA +2)
Abilities: Black Magic (Fire 2 is a must, Fire 3 is optional), any Secondary Ability Set you feel comfortable with, Any Reaction Ability but prefer Auto potion, or other useful abilities like that, Equip Shield (must have support ability), Movement Ability is optional, I would have prefered Move MP Up or even move HP Up but move +1, +2 are also good.

Final Fantasy Tactics (ファイナルファンタジータクティクス, Fainaru Fantajī Takutikusu) is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Sony PlayStation video game console. It was released in Japan in June 1997 and in the United States in January 1998. The game combines thematic elements of the Final Fantasy video game series with a game engine and battle system unlike those previously seen in the franchise. In contrast to other 32-bit era Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy Tactics uses a 3D, isometric, rotatable playing field, with bitmap sprite characters.
The game is set in a fictional kingdom called Ivalice, which has just ended its war with neighboring kingdom of Ordalia. The story follows Ramza Beoulve, a young cadet who finds himself thrust into the middle of a conflict, where two noble factions are coveting the throne of the kingdom. While the war was caused by a conflict of succession, Ramza was exposed to a plot that involved the kingdom's dominant religious organization.
A spinoff was created in 2003, called Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and a sequel to that title was released called Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and in 2006, a stand-alone title called Final Fantasy XII was released for the Sony PlayStation 2. All three games take place in the fictional land of Ivalice. An enhanced remake of Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, was also released in 2007 as part of Square Enix's new Ivalice Alliance project. Overall, the game received positive reviews from gaming magazines and websites.
