Previously, the party rendezvoused with Xezat's Fleet near Castle Exdeath and helped fight off an assault led by Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Afterwards, they helped Xezat infiltrate the Barrier Tower. After defeating all the enemy types and gathering all the treasures, they defeated Atomos at the top and destroyed the antenna. Sadly, Xezat did not survive, but the party gained control of the submarine. Now, the party will visit the village of Moore on the western continent and find a summon on the northwestern continent. Then, they will visit Ghido's Cave on the ocean floor.

Before loading the game, I show the Bestiary up to this point.

Galuf's World - World Map (time 0:53):

The party resumes on the coast east of Castle Exdeath. Bartz changes his job to Samurai and equips Dual-Wield. Lenna changes her job to Chemist and equips "!Summon Lv. 5". Faris changes her job to Thief and equips "!Blue Magic".

The party boards the sub. They sail east/northeast and wrap around to the western continent. In the continent's western bay, they dive to the ocean floor. They sail northeast into a small channel and then surface into a small lake in the Moore region. This heavily forested region is entirely surrounded by mountains and inaccessible by wind drake.

Just west of the lake, the party enters the town of Moore.

Moore (time 2:44):

The party explores the village and chats with the residents. The residents have information about the nearby forest.

The party finds the pub in the southwest of town. Within, they play Piano #7 and increase their piano mastery. Decent rendition of Mozart's "Rondo alla Turca".

The inn is just north of the town entrance. The nightly rate is 70 gil. The party visits the item merchants and restocks a few things.

The armor shop is in the southeast. The party picks up some of the new gear. The diamond gear provides resistance to lightning-elemental attacks.

Along the western exterior of the pub, there are a couple of barrels. One barrel contains a Main Gauche dagger.

In the north of town, the party finds the magic shop. They pick up the Time Magic spells Graviga, Hastega, and Old; the Black Magic spells Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga; and the White Magic spells Curaga, Reflect, and Berserk. Good stuff.

The weapon shop is in the northeast of town. The party picks up some Air Knives and an Elven Bow.

The party leaves town.

World Map (time 9:12):

Outside of town, the party encounters the local selection of monsters: Cure Beast, Land Turtle, and Dechirer. The Dechirers are vulnerable to Level 5 Death.

Galuf reaches Red Mage Level 4 and masters !Dualcast. He has now mastered the Red Mage job. He changes his job to White Mage and equips "!Time Mage Lv. 6".

After they have encountered all the local monster types, the party boards the submarine. They dive to the ocean floor. Next, they sail to the northwestern continent. Along the southern side, they find a cave entrance. When they approach it, they gain control inside the sub. They go downstairs and rest. Then, they disembark.

Cave (time 15:20):

The party gains control in the cave on the northwestern continent. This cave has a couple of enemy types to encounter: Ironback and Druid. Both are susceptible to Level 4 Graviga.

The party climbs the stairways and emerges from the cave.

World Map (time 16:21):

The party emerges in a forested area surrounded by mountains. In the southeast, they find a Chocobo Forest.

Chocobo Forest (time 16:31):

This Chocobo Forest is an optional location. It is missable if the party does not visit it before they complete Castle Exdeath. They find one resident Chocobo.

The party leaves the forest.

World Map (time 16:51):

Bartz changes his job to Freelancer and equips "!Rapid Fire" and "Spellblade Lv. 6". He also has the Ribbon equipped for status immunity. The normal monsters in the area are the same as those in the Moore region.

After a few battles in the area, the party encounters a wandering summon monster, Catoblepas. It enjoys using the Drain spell. Fortunately, the party's new Curaga spell is more than adequate to keep them healed. Bartz uses Spellblade Poison and then attacks with "!Rapid Fire". Catoblepas counterattacks with Demon Eye, which inflicts petrification, but Bartz's Ribbon keeps him protected.

At the end of the battle, the party acquires the Catoblepas item. They use this item after the battle to learn the Summon spell Catoblepas. Catoblepas casts Demon Eye to petrify one enemy. This summon is missable if the party does not obtain it before they complete Castle Exdeath.

The party enters the Chocobo Forest again.
