With all party members recruited, we can start working on character-specific side quests. We'll start with learning Strago's best Blue Magic: Grand Trine.

In order to open the entrance to Ebot's Rock, we first have to enter the town of Thamasa directly South with both Relm and Strago in your party to trigger a cutscene. When I first ventured into Ebot's Rock, the monsters made short work of my team. I think I wiped three times before I threw in the towel and decided to power level my party members to an average level of 43. Ebot's Rock was the inspiration for power leveling before I even thought about attempting Phoenix Cave. This is my reattempt of Ebot's Rock now that I have better equipment and gear.

Ebot's Rock is home to a lot of nasty monsters that like to spam status effect spells, with Toad being the most used. Equip your party members with Relics that protect against Toad and Zombie.

For the Hidon fight, you want to equip your party members with Relics that protect against the following in order of priority: Sleep, Zombie, Stone, Slow-Death, Berserk. Hidon can't be targeted until you kill his minions and his minions like to spam status effect spells such as Sleep and Zombie. The purple minions require two casts of Flare from a strong magic user to kill, and the green minions have a permanent Reflect buff on them at all times. You need some strong physical attackers to finish them off.

Once the minions are defeated, Hidon will start attacking. Now is your chance to spam Fire and Holy-type spells on Hidon, but don't kill him! You have to wait for him to cast Grand Trine in order for Strago to learn it. Once Hidon casts Grand Trine, his minions revive and you have to repeat the fight. Most likely, Grand Trine will have killed two or three of your party members, which makes this phase a real slog to go through. Just be patient and focus on eliminating the minions before reviving and buffing your party. Once Hidon is vulnerable, spam Fire and Holy on him as fast as possible.

Final Fantasy Vi T-Edition is a rom hack that changes large aspects of the original game. The hack rebalances mobs, bosses, adjusts some relics effects (such as Earrings no longer stacking together), fixes many bugs, different character outfits, adds music from other Final Fantasy games, side quests in pubs, and a whole lot more.

Each character now gains stats upon level up instead of from equipping Magicite. This makes each character play quite differently from each other and addresses the main problem with magic being extremely over powered in the original game. Some characters got overhauled quite a bit, such as Sabin's Blitzes using his Stamina in damage calculations, Mog's Dances no longer missing and placing Mog into a sort of Berserk status, and Gau no longer requiring going to the Veldt to learn Rages.
