Final Fantasy VII Remake: Chapter 08: Budding Bodyguard
0This was an excruciating Chapter. I thought it would be a lot more fun than it was. Little did I know there were six sidequests I would have to do. I guess I didn't have to do them, but I didn't know if it would impact any part of the game if I ignored them. Apparently, if you didn't complete all the sidequests in Chapter 3 than you didn't have the conversation with Tifa. Without that conversation, you didn't have the option to choose the dress Tifa would wear on their "date."
What made this section even worse; I died on one of the sidequests and chose the option to go to the last checkpoint. My heart stopped when I realized how far the last checkpoint was. I had to redo a mission and 3 sidequests. It was awful. The other option was to restart at the battle. I was afraid that I would be in an endless loop of redoing the same battle with all the wrong Materia equipped. Thankfully when I died on a side mission after coming back the next day, I chose restart at the battle. This took me to the start of the battle but I had not yet engaged the enemy so I could run away. Which I did. then I equipped the right Materia and all was right.
Chadley completely screwed me over. So I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and it cost me 7,000 Gil. I really don't want to get into it, it still stings. What happened was, Chadley had discovered a new materia and I went to go purchase it from him. The first one is 100 Gil and the cost goes up the more you buy. The second was 2,000 and the third, 5,000. I couldn't undo what I did so I went and sold some things and just hoped to recover at some point. Eventually, near the end of the chapter, I began to build my account back up. I had just over 7,000 Gil in my account before I wasted it all and now I have about 8,800 Gil. So it builds up quick, I never found myself hurting for money.
