FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE Gameplay Part 4
Final Fantasy VII Remake is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is a reimagining of the 1997 PlayStation classic, Final Fantasy VII. Square Enix intends to release the game in episodic installments, with the first scheduled for release on April 10, 2020, for the PlayStation 4 with timed exclusivity until April 10, 2021.
Players take on the role of the mercenary Cloud Strife as they navigate the dystopian city of Midgar and confront the corrupt Shinra megacorporation, which seeks to exploit the planet's life essence as an energy source. Their journey intersects with that of the legendary soldier Sephiroth, who aims to harness the planet's power to ascend to godhood. The gameplay blends real-time action reminiscent of Dissidia Final Fantasy with strategic elements.
Exploration and battle mechanics occur in real-time, akin to Final Fantasy XV. The game introduces an updated "Active Time Battle" (ATB) system from the original, which gradually fills over time or accelerates with attacks. Once filled, players can pause the action to utilize special abilities like magic, items, and unique moves. These abilities can also be assigned to shortcut buttons, enabling uninterrupted real-time combat. Each ability consumes a portion of the ATB bar. Players can freely switch between party members, each with their own distinctive skills, such as Cloud's melee prowess and Barret's ranged attacks. Magic, summons, and a Limit Break gauge for powerful attacks add further depth. Producer Yoshinori Kitase noted an emphasis on real-time elements while retaining strategic elements like weapon and magic selection for each character.
