7Current situation: The party arrives at Trabia Garden to find it in ruins, having taken a direct missile hit. The surviving students and faculty throughout the remains of the Garden try to get by and restore what they can from the wreckage. Selphie meets her old friends, and does her best to cheer them up. Afterward, the party gathers at a basketball court. Somehow it comes up in conversation that Irvine had come from an orphanage, and Squall, Quistis, Selphie, Zell, Seifer, and Ellone had all been there. Everyone is taken aback by this, and as their memories begin to come back, they wonder how they all managed to forget. Guardian Force, rumored to cause memory loss, isn't used at Galbadia Garden. Since Irvine hadn't junctioned one until recently, he was able to remember better than the rest of them.
As they talk more, everyone has a memory of their caretaker at the orphanage, and realizes a spooky resemblance. Irvine states that it's more than a resemblance - their matron's name was Edea Kramer. She and the sorceress are one and the same. No one is able to understand how she went from the kind, gentle woman they knew to the merciless sorceress they were now fighting. They decide to head toward the orphanage to see if they can learn how this happened.
