Previously, Heorot of Bastok did the quest "Trust: Bastok" and learned the Trust spell Naji. He also carried out Bastok Mission 1-1: "The Zeruhn Report". Finally, he did some tutorial stuff for Gulldago in Bastok Markets. Now, Heorot will gain a few levels in South Gustaberg. He is currently a Level 5 Red Mage.

Heorot resumes in his Mog House. He heads out to the Bastok Mines.

Bastok Mines (time 0:45):

Heorot exits to South Gustaberg.

South Gustaberg (time 1:35):

Heorot takes out a few Huge Hornets near the Bastok Mines gate to finish off a training regime. Then, he checks the Field Manual just west of the gate. He takes on the Page 4 training, which is to defeat seven members of the Goblin family in South Gustaberg.

Heorot first heads up Vomp Hill. West of the Bastok Mines gate, Vomp Hill is directly south of the Bastok Markets gate. Perhaps I should have stuck with the Page 1 training, because Vomp Hill is home to numerous Maneating Hornets in addition to a few low-tier Goblins. Goblins are one of the hostile beastman races. Aggressive, they will attack on sight if they count as easy prey or higher. They are also linking, meaning that they will target a character that is attacking one of their kin.

Heorot only just picked up his Bronze Sword, so he has to level up his sword combat skill a bit. He also has to level up healing magic skill and elemental magic skill, as he has just picked up Cure and Stone.

Before long, Heorot's Sword combat skill reaches 5, and he learns the Weapon Skill Fast Blade.

As you level up, note that you have to dismiss your Trust NPCs and call them again to bring them up to your level.

After a little romping and leveling on Vomp Hill, Heorot heads down the western slope to the western portion of South Gustaberg. Here, he finds Quadav, members of another beastman race. Also aggressive, Quadav detect characters based on sound. Goblins tend to appear all across Vana'diel, while Quadav tend to appear in southern Quon, the continent where Bastok is located.

In the course of the video, Heorot eventually reaches Level 8 as a Red Mage.

South Gustaberg's western valley is the Fumaroles. There are both Quadav and Goblins in this section of the zone. One Quadav drops a Scroll of Barsleep, so Heorot uses it to learn Barsleep.

At the Fumaroles, the road turns north into the western section of North Gustaberg. Heorot takes this exit at E-7.

North Gustaberg (time 52:23):

The western section of North Gustaberg is in a deep valley. An Outpost is located at D-10. The nation in charge of the region will have personnel stationed here. If your nation is in charge of a region, you can talk to the conquest officer at an Outpost to get Signet or set your home point there for free. If another nation is in charge, you can pay a fee to set your home point there, but you cannot get Signet.

Wait, Windurst is in control of the Gustaberg region? Unthinkable!

Also, there is a Survival Guide at the Outpost at D-10. Heorot examines it. Then, he spends some tabs to teleport back to Bastok Mines in Bastok.

Bastok Mines (time 55:19):

Back in Bastok, Heorot uses the nearest Home Point to teleport to the Bastok Markets.

Bastok Markets (time 56:23):

Heorot visits the Dragon's Claws weapon shop at F-10. After selling some excess loot to Zhikkom, he picks up a Xiphos, a Level 7 sword. This should prove a little more effective than a Bronze Sword. However, Heorot will keep the Bronze Sword around for leveling other jobs.

Then, Heorot teleports to the northern part of the zone and visits the magic shop, Sororo's Scribe and Notary, at H-5. He picks up a Scroll of Protect from Sororo and learns the White Magic spell Protect. He also picks up a Scroll of Water from Zaira, but he will have to wait until Red Mage Level 9 to learn the Black Magic spell Water.

Afterwards, Heorot heads to his Mog House.

Mog House (time 1:00:39):

At home, Heorot puts some items away before signing out.

Next time, he will continue leveling out in Gustaberg.
