The first optional Esper I went after, while I was in the area after defeating the Bloodwing!
You have a 5-minute time limit to defeat Zalera, failure to do that will see you ejected from the fight and you'll have to start over on your next attempt, and the boss starts in a Defensive mode that makes it nearly impossible to damage, to circumvent that, you can either use attacks that deal set damage, such as 1000 Needles, or defeat all Dead Bones in the area.
Once his Defense is broken through, Zalera will fight by mostly directing status ailments as you, mainly Sleep, Disable and Break, his attacks can also Confuse you, and of course, he can instantly kill your characters with Death or Kill, the latter being more accurate.
His ultimate attack, Prime Level Death, instantly kills any character whose level is a prime number, so look those up to see if you're vulnerable to it or not.
He's also immune to all elements, but as an undead, he takes damage from healing spells, so you can exploit that with a Reflect + Curaja strategy.
