An absolutely amazing run. I grinded Chapter 1 until I had flawless dodging up to Beta Behemoth, and then I farmed only 4 Deceptisols instead of 5 in Chapter 2 with the understanding that I would quit the run if I did not receive a bonus Deceptisol by Chapter 3's Alpha Behemoth. This saved me nearly two minutes in the first two chapters versus my previous WR. Incredibly, that was not the best time save I had in the run; I was ahead by ten minutes by the end of Chapter 10! Unfortunately the last three chapters were filled with misery, causing me to lose over five minutes, but I still squeezed in this new WR.
I think I am done with running Any% for this game for the time being. I've improved the WR several times already, and the route is starting to be completely optimized. Soon we will reach the point where we are grinding RNG beyond my one bonus Deceptisol, or runs being over to even one failed dodge or one fight being ten seconds longer than optimal. I probably should get out while I still can. ^_^
Also, for once this is raw game footage instead of coming off of a Twitch stream. So, for those of you unfamiliar with timing for this game, the timing starts from selecting New Game (0:37) and ends when the letters of The End are filled (5:27:15). The in-game timer is not used because when a battle is retried the timer resets to just before the battle; that would mean optimizing in-game time would boil down to retrying fights many, many times until you get the luckiest, fastest fight possible, which is absurd and goes against the ideals of speedrunning (in my opinion, at least).
