Talk to Navyth the fisherman by the Vannath Coast Fishing Spot in Galdin Quay. He will commission you to catch the biggest fish of all: The Devil of the Cygillan. It's of tantamount importance that you have the right gear for this one. Dragon's Beard 2,000 durability line is crucial, and you should make sure it's as close to maximum durability as possible when you're on the hunt for this fish. For the lure, we recommend Burrower: Abyss Worm, as it's suited for the Murk Grouper, which is the fish you're after this time. Otherwise, it has been caught using a Knife T. Tonberry, Big Blaze Bahamut, or Whiskers: Pearl Moogle. Finally, you will need to have the best rod and reel you can find: we recommend the Death Spin Rod and Nereid Reel, both of which can be purchased from Bert's Bobbers 'n' Stuff (located at Vesperpool.)

Once you have the necessary items, you may need to fish for quite some time before encountering the Devil of Cygillan. It doesn't have an icon on the fishing minimap, so keep casting until you find it. We have only hooked it during the day. With the right gear and a little luck, you'll get it to bite. Note fishing level does not seem to be that important: we've caught this fish at Level 6.

Once you get the fish on the line, be patient. If you have the right equipment, you should be able to last. Make sure to follow the prompts, always directing your rod correctly. If you feel your controller vibrate, DO NOT REEL. Only when you are correctly leading the fish with your rod and there is no vibration should you reel. These are short windows of time, but if you confine your reeling to these moments, you should be able to gradually bring the fish in. We've found the best approach when reeling is to tap the R2 button repeatedly, rather than holding it down. That way, you run a lesser risk of damaging your line. It will take a long time, but eventually you will haul in the monster fish. After you catch it, talk to Navyth to complete this mission and receive the best rod in the game: Tranquility. Mostly just keep warp striking and holding O you'll win 90% of all the battles including bosses. I think FFXII is the best FF game. They just have to remake it and add more to the story.
