Final Fight Revenge - SEGA Saturn - Attact & arcade 1CC no loss playthrough as Guy [4K60]
Full longplay / playthrough / walkthrough / trueplay and gameplay of the arcade mode of Final Fight Revenge as Guy. This is a one credit run with no rounds loss either. Unlike many of Capcom's other arcade games Final Fight Revenge was mainly developed by Capcom's North American team, Capcom Digital Studios. For such a late release it's surprising to see it was developed for the Sega Titan Video (ST-V) arcade hardware in 1999. As far superior arcade hardware like SEGA Model 3 had been out for some time at this point. The arcade version seems to have had a very limited release and there is some suggestion it was only released in arcades in Japan. The fact the game looked so dated visually at the time of release is likely what stopped many arcade owners picking it up. This was three years after Virtua Fighter 3 for example.
In 2000 Final Fight Revenge would receive a Japanese only SEGA Saturn release, being one of the last games released official on the format. It was Capcom's last game on the system and the last original game to release on it, as only collections and re-releases of older Saturn titles followed it. This was the final game released that required the 4MB RAM cartridge.
The game is a 3D versus fighter which uses five buttons, two each for punch and kick strength levels and a fifth button for side step which allows you to move around the field. The Saturn port uses a sixth button for taunting. Overall it's quite a fun fighter that doesn't take itself seriously with over the top super moves which was part of the course for that time, including Edi E's car chase and Rolento's helicopter called in. The game features ten playable characters all of whom appeared in the original Final Fight Arcade game Cody, Mike Haggar, Guy, El Gado, Sodom, Poison, Andore (Hugo), Damnd, Edi E and Rolento. The final character is a Zombie (undead) Belger who return from the original arcade game, after his trip out of the window and is a CPU only final boss. Guy, Rolento, Sodom, Hugo have some of their moves copied from the Street Fighter Alpha series and Street Fighter III, but most characters have fighting moves exclusive for this game. Likely as the developers for this didn't work with the Japanese branch that much. Cody move set in revenge is totally different to his Alpha series moves
it's a decent fighter and actually plays better than Capcom other 3D fighter from the time Star Gladiator, you can also pick up weapons and items in a match to use, similar to the original Final Fight. There is a rather large selection of weapons from knifes, steel pipes, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, freeze rays and shotguns to name but a few. While some weapons like the shotgun are very unbalance, overall it's a pretty decent fighter. In terms of gameplay it's a more interesting and enjoyable game than Street Fighter V. Even if this is a bare bones arcade port that these days come with a very large and over inflated price tag on Saturn and it's hard to recommend as a result. Visually it's awful for the time and looks utter inferior to games like Virtua Fighter 2 and Last Bronx, but it does have some charm with its low polygon models. The music is also nothing to write home about. So while fighting fans may get some enjoyment from Final Fight Revenge it certainly shouldn't be anywhere near the top of your gaming shopping list.
