Tutorial:
- Standard 2D objects from Max are used in the scene and you are invited to test things out with the 3ds Max export to Adobe Illustrator for further processing.

- Here we use the standard Scanline Render: finalToon is the most fastest and easiest solution to choose.

- Go to Tab: Rendering and select Effects to call out finalToon/toon.

- Take some time to familiarize with the toon roll out menu. E.g. Global Settings: Shapes Color, Antialiasing, Lines, Split Mesh, etc.
Note the render effects will be interactive .

- Select File Out put (export) : output 'lines' only; choose Adobe Illustrator format. Press 'render' and it is done. It is saved as the Adobe Illustrator .ai format in the folder you choose.

- You will notice that it is not a big file, very compact and a memory-saver.

Tutorial sample scene 1: Chess set

- Bring out your ai file in Adobe illustrator: Convert to Legacy Artboard. You see a true 2D Vector format. This is powerful as you can select and edit each individual lines and components.

- More importantly, for speed of work, finalToon / toon has already arranged all your outputs into individual objects and layers for you to work on. The very same objects you have modelled on 3d studio Max is now available for further art finest work on the Adobe Illustrator, sorted and ready.

- And as you know, the great thing about Adobe Illustrator is that you can select by object and each object automatically transfer as a layer.

- You can also select different format outputs in Illustrator including DXF, or any CAD format.

- Now, you can select any lines and adjust parameters such as color /gradients and what not.

Tutorial sample scene 2: Brain

- Again from the 'teapot' renderer icon, select 'Scanline' renderer which is really easy and fast to use for 3D Max and again select 'Rendering' -- 'effects' tab and 'finalToon'.

- in this sample scene, we select Global Settings - Uniform Colors : 225 and render on Scanline.

- You have successfully output as a 2D vector format.

- Load the AI file into Adobe Illustrator inclusive of the color data.

- All objects are now accessible as Illustrator layers.

- Note that sometimes the layers ordering may run, and it is an easy fix to select the priority layer and move it upwards or downwards where you want it.

- Now you can do all the manipulations you want to do on the 2D vector output by finalToon. It opens a whole new world of artistic creations for you.
