Ironman means that I can't restart the chapter, all units that are defeated are lost forever. If I get a Game Over, I cannot continue and I am forced to delete the game file, create another one and start from the beginning.
ATTENTION: I have created some exceptions, because there are certain chapters in which if certain green units die, the game is over. You can't control them and most of their actions are actions that they shouldn't do, for example: instead of attacking, they could heal themselves to increase survival.
And because it's on max difficulty, the chances of survival are lower than on normal difficulty.
So if the green unit dies, and the game is over.
The Ironman challenge will be partly ignored, and the chapter can be restarted. BUT...... if you lose a unit in that chapter, and you restart it because of the conditions I said above, you will not be able to play it for the rest of your run. But be careful, this does not apply to your units, in case you lose a unit and the game is over. The Ironman challenge applies, and you will have to start all over from the beginning. Remember, it only works for green units in certain chapters.
It will only apply to these 3 chapters: (Be careful with the Twitch stream chat because I made a mistake with 2 chapters that are not those, and I will rectify it here):
