This is a rant, but not against the Hyphy Movement, the San Francisco Bay Area residents who prove that it doesn't deserve to be called the "Yay Area", the shallow girls who would say "wanna suck my pee" just to mock me, and the Oakland rioters. Rather, it's against Chapter 13 in FEDS. The infamous Shooter chapter. So what are the issues with it?
*As you expect, it's full of Shooters and their being 3-10 headaches. You will get attacked from a distance again and again and again and again. It's particularly bad in FEDS because evade rates in general are awful (assuming, of course, you want to rely on evasion to begin with), and Shooters also have high attack power. The 3-10 range alone means that only Social Knights (and Paladins), Horsemen, and Dragon Knights can get through the range of just one of the Shooters without being shot. Their fatal weakness is supposed to be an awful hit rate, but if you're using the terrain, you are moving slowly and tempting fate as a result.
*The Shooters themselves get hard to individually kill quickly on Hard 5, which I know is supposed to be called Merciless, but jeez. They have less than the base 14 Physical Defense (one of the enemy stat tone-downs), but 11 is still average at least, and they have mid-30s HPs. Good luck having many people with mid-20s or better attack power. Tome users will just get shot and likely killed before dealing much damage. The Thunder Sword can't be expected to deal much damage because users will likely have low Magic Power ratings. And the Thunderbolt catapult has only 10 uses before it breaks. Really, I asked Ephraim225 if this reminded him of somebody from Brawl--as a rhetorical question because as he answered correctly: it's a reminder of Pit, his annoying arrow spam, and the fact that he can survive easily, thereby ensuring that breaking through an even halfway competent player's arrow spam doesn't punish the player for using Pit nearly as much as it should punish the arrow abuse. (By the way, Shooters in the original FE1 had 14 Physical Defense because there was a maximum range of a measly 2 spaces, and Intelligent Systems wouldn't have wanted them as flatly glorified Archers, especially having Hunters and Horsemen to take care of offense. Here, there's no excuse for it.)
*As it turns out, most of the Shooters are IMMOBILE. That says a lot, doesn't it? Like how broken they would be if they were mobile, because then you'd have to deal with a whole lot of high attack 1-14 range units. Of course, not only does "Intelligent" Systems point this out to somebody like moi, but they also seem to have forgotten about the fact that you can just drain their ammo. At least there's still a blind spot to sneak a Paladin or Dragon Knight (nothing slower, sadly) through the south group's range, of course you still have to drain the ammo of one of the middle group Shooters. The whole ammo issue, of course, brings up...
*The Shooters also have reduced Strength, on top of the reduced Physical Defense and the general lack of mobility. Obviously, Intelligent Systems is aware that the Shooters may be able to be cruel and gang up on a character. But still, good luck having many people with mid-teens or better Physical Defense at that point.
*The Fort positioning. There's only one Fort on the map. Unfortunately, it's covered by the north and middle groups of Shooters, and two of the middle group Shooters not only have 40 shots each but are covered by both Gigasshu and another Shooter, both of whom are safe in deep defense as long as the middle group has ammo to deter any attacks. By the time the Fort is safe and you get to work with any free healing (which would have helped earlier because Live Wands will cost a good deal), the map is nearly done.
*Astoria attacking his own lover if possible. Although that's the result of indiscriminate AI; just ask Kashim, who if possibe will attack Sheeda--and OHK her. And he and Medea are both not exactly stellar units, though if you want 100% completion...
*The only enemies on the map that aren't Shooters are 2 Thieves, a Cleric with a Relieve Wand, and Astoria (who, of course, is recruitable). That says a lot: when their only real defense is each other, because the Thieves will get shaken off and I don't need to say anything about the other two enemies. There isn't even a single reinforcement.
*Apparently, from what I just read, some of the Shooters don't attack automatically; instead you get attacked only if you get close enough. If this is true, then I call Fake Difficulty under the clause Leap of Faith.

By the way, PEACH CAN'T BEAT OLIMAR!
