Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn Part I Chapter 4 [3/3] - Wolves?
Chapter 1-4: A Distant Voice
In this chapter, after Sothe, the rest of the crew, and Aran help Micaiah, Laura, Ilyana, Aimee, and Kurth, they hear some unsuspecting news from the caravan that Aimee is a part of. The lost orphan of the late king of Daein. The Dawn Brigade heads to the desert in hopes to find this apparent lost orphan of Daein's deceased Mad King Ashnard. During that journey, Micaiah hears a distant voice (hence the title of the chapter) and is drawn to it only to lead her to an abandoned ruin...
Units this chapter:
Meg – Armor Sword: Meg is the first armored unit that you get in the game, and her base stats are pretty impressive for only being a level 3 Armor. Ten Defense! Armors in this game as you saw from the past two chapters, have 3 different classes that derive from it. They can be An Armor Sword, Lance, or Axe. Meg is different from other Armors purely because of her growth rates. A normal Armored unit would have pitiful Speed, Luck, and Resistance, with stellar HP, Strength, and Defense growths. Meg growth rates are the polar opposite in that she has a 35% growth rate in both her Strength and Defense, BUT has incredible HP, Speed, Luck and Resistance growths. She is practically a walking, more defensive myrmidon with her growths. The only problem with her is that she has a hard time getting good experience, especially early on with this chapter. She can hardly damage any laguz and she gets doubled by practically everyone of them. As I said from previous descriptions, there is a work around to make her grow in certain stats. Because her Res growth is so high we can take advantage of the fact that it only caps at 10 for physical units in this game.Meg can be incredible to use, you just have to put the work in to train her and hope to get some decent growths in Strength and Defense.
Laguz: OK, there is a lot to explain for these new laguz "features" in Radiant Dawn. Back in PoR, the laguz were a lot more balanced and even though I did not use laguz in the game. However, laguz got both buffed and nerfed at the same time. Laguz now DOUBLE their stats when they transform, however, this leaves them susceptible to a lot of damage when untransformed. Laguz can attack when they are untransformed in this game, but they are still practically useless when they are not transformed. Furthermore, they lose a lot more of their transformation gauge each turn and when engaged in battle. The thing that cancels this problem out is that you can transform and untransform at will, so until you need them in a skirmish, you can leave them untransformed so they do not lost their gauge. A list of the differences between the various types of laguz is provided here.
