Fire Emblem: Rising Thrust - THE WEAPON TRIANGLE IS REAL!
Slashing weapons like Swords beat Smashing weapons like Hammers which beat Stabbing weapons like Lances which beat Slashing weapons like Swords. Weapon Triangle Advantage grants 6 Damage dealt and -6 Damage taken to the one with the Advantage. All three of these Melee Weapons beat Bows, gaining 6 Damage when attacking Bows or Magic Weapons. No Bow or Magic Weapon damage is resisted. Bows always attack first when attacked by 1-range Melee Weapons. When Bows attack 1-range Melee Weapon users, they deny their targets a chance to Counterattack. Magic Users cannot Counterattack. Bows have a minimum range of 1 and a maximum range of 1 plus the user's Strength divided by 5, up to a maximum of 9 bonus range at 45 Strength. However if this turns out to be too strong during playtesting I might reduce the maximum range bonus to 5 or 6. Bows and Melee Weapon types are restricted based on Class, though a rare number of Personal Skills grant the user the use of a specific Weapon Type at all times. Bows and Melee Weapons use the same Weapon Category now, letting units reclass freely and keep their Weapon Rank without needing to start building Weapon EXP from scratch with a new Weapon Type every time their Class Change changes their Weapon.
