I'm not really sure how to describe Firewatch. You play as Henry in the year 1989. After your wife develops dementia your life falls into shambles and you try to take a new job and a fire watcher while your wife moves back in with her parents for better care. Your only contact is your supervisor and the game is built on maintaining a good relationship with her while strange things begin to happen around the Forrest.
