First Encounters! | Diamond & Pearl Randomized SoulLink Chesslocke Ep 02
SoulLink Chesslocke Rules:
1 - Any Pokémon that faints is considered "dead," and must be released or stored in a specified PC box for "dead" Pokémon.
2 - You can only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and no others. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
2a - Species/Dupes Clause Enabled
3 - Must nickname all Pokemon for the sake of creating "stronger emotional bonds"
4 - In a new area, the first encounters for both players will be "linked" together until death.
5 - If one Pokémon in a linked pair is placed in the PC, it's Soul Link partner must be placed in the PC as well.
6 - If one Pokémon in a linked pair dies, it's Soul Link partner is considered dead as well.
7 - If one player fails to capture their first encounter in an area, the second player must forfeit their encounter in the same area.
8 - Across both players parties, primary typings may not be repeated.
9 - All Soul Link pairs must consist of one male and one female Pokémon. Players will re-encounter their first encounters in a new area, until an acceptable encounter can be caught.
10 - There is a catch-limiting rule that only allows a max of 15 Pokemon to be caught, (giving a total of 16 Pokemon including the starter)
11 - Throughout the entire run, you may only have One King, one Queen, two Bishops, two Knights, two Rooks and eight Pawns.
11a - Upgrading a Pawn does not count towards your total count of other pieces (it still counts as a Pawn)
12 - Base form Pokemon can only be used as Pawns and cannot fill other roles.
12a - Base form Pokemon that have no evolution ignore this rule per the Pawn rules.
13 - If a player encounters a Pokemon that can only fill a role they are already at their capture limit for (Pawn, Knight, etc) then they may re-encounter until an acceptable Pokemon is encountered
14 - If a Pokemon has a move that is illegal for their role (Pawn, Knight, etc) then they may not use that move and must either delete or replace it as soon as possible using the first legal move via Level/TM/Tutor/etc.
15 - A Pokemon is assigned its role as soon as it is caught, but only counts towards your capture limit if both players catch their encounter
Chess Roles:
King - Your starter must be the King. The King must always be in your party. If the King dies, it's game over.
Queen - Only female Pokemon may be the Queen.
Bishop - May only have two damaging moves at any time.
Knight - May not use moves which have a base power greater than 60 (Before STAB).
Rook - May not use damaging moves with secondary effects on the enemy. They may use non-damaging moves, however.
Pawn - May not evolve ever. It also can't be a Pokemon that is already evolved upon capture or has no evolution. If a Pawn wins any major battle (Gym, Rival, E4, Admins, Team Leaders) by itself, it can become a knight, bishop, rook or a Queen, the last only applies to female Pawns and only if there is no Queen (Or if the Queen is dead).
