The Brigade Advisory Group for Op Herrick 17 has run the first ever mortar course for the Afghan National Army in Camp Shorabak.
A team of experts from four different units came together to train 3/215 Brigade to give them an extra capability for when British troops withdraw in 2014.
Troops from 1st Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland were joined by others from 1st Battalion Scots Guards, 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and 1st Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles to conduct the training.
It is hoped soldiers from the ANA be able to run the course themselves by April next year.
