Below is just nerd stuff about the overlay.
This was really just recorded to see if my overlay works after some changes. I got the hit on my system down by combining all seven browser sources into one using frames, which seems to have lowered CPU usage by OBS from 35% to 10-20% so that was a success.
The frame-rate counter is now working differently, it was previously deducting any reprojected and dropped frames from a max value per second, but it appears it showed faulty rates due to reprojection happening even for new frames.
Now I have added timestamps to the exported statistics and I check how many frames that have been presented to the headset and since the last update and scale it using delta-time, it should be more accurate, I think.
SteamVR still sucks so much CPU while doing nothing, it's been like this forever, I'm not sure what they're doing there... or if I can improve the situation. Just having SteamVR running has the CPU at 60-80% load, after having played a title. Just... why?!
