[First Look] A modern Gothic? - #spellmaster
15Spellmaster is a game that tries to replicate the classic RPG Gothic. This is a first look in order to give people who might be interested a taste of what the game play is like. I'll be walking through the start of the game to arriving at the starting village and making comments on what I've seen so far.
This video is based on the first release, v0.8, and was created thanks to a media key provided by the publisher. All footage is captured by us and the opinions within are our own.

A look at the user interface for looting, reading, and picking up items.
10:32 - Platforming
The game has platforming sections that lead to hidden loot. We cover the first of three.
16:07 - Questing
The first side quest is given to us by a ghost.
22:41 - Leaving the ruins
We've uncovered all hidden loot and are ready to leave the first area. We'll see a cutscene where the ghost's sister is thrown off a cliff. We get to choose how to respond.
27:01 - Difficulty and level scaling
This game is similar to Gothic in that there's no level scaling and areas can be too difficult at the beginnig.
30:58 - The crossroad
We bypass the more difficult areas and reach a cross-roads pointing to the village we're headed towards.
34:43 - The village gates
There's a guard, possibly the father of the ghost children. We need to find a missing hunter before we'll be given permission to enter. We acquire our first map too.
36:50 - The hunter
The hunter is the guard's daughter but she refuses to return before getting wolf pelt. So guess who needs to get some. We also reach level 2.
