First Look - Camera Obscura - Ep. 1 - MLG Bumpy...NOT!
*Note* Camera Obscura releases on Thursday, Feb 19th, 2015 at 1pm EST. Look below for details on where to get it!
Camera Obscura has a unique approach to the puzzle platforming genre of games. It adds a whole new strategic level to your basic jump jump and jump some more. The "afterimage"mechanic allows you to take a "snapshot" of the terrain around you and then move or shift it slightly to create your own pathways, staircases, or bridges. No jumping on baddies here, you squash em with your afterimage! I'll admit I'm not great at the game, in fact I am pretty bad, but my platforming skills have fallen off over the years. I try to get one or two in a year, just to stay fresh and adding the puzzle element just made it all the more challenging. If you like a challenging platformer that will make you think, test your skills and make you learn new ways to accomplish old goals, Camera Obscura is the game for you. I have the games I do well in and games I don't. Regardless of my skill or lack there of, I feel many games deserve a chance in the lime light.
Two quick things:
1.) I do generally try to get at least a base level skill set for the games I cover. Often enough, I simply don't have the time to master every game I cover in my First Look series. If a game has a cool mechanic, or does something that I really like and I feel like it should be shown, I showcase it.
2.) My goal is to bring a wide array of games to you folks who watch, and despite my personal skill at playing, inspire you to grab it for yourselves and enjoy! This game won't be for everybody, in fact no game is, but it might brighten someone's day and that is why I do what I do! (Even if I sometimes do it poorly!)
