Life of GameBoy Advance SP (GBA SP)
The Game Boy Advance SP (GBA SP) was a handheld game console released by Nintendo in 2003. It was an upgraded version of the original Game Boy Advance. The "SP" in the name stands for "Special". The GBA SP was the first handheld console to have a frontlight and later a backlight. This allowed players to play in the dark without a light attachment. The GBA SP also had a rechargeable battery, eliminating the need for AA batteries.
The GBA SP was discontinued in December 2009. The last Game Boy model, the Game Boy Micro, was released in 2005.
GameBoy Color (GBC)
The GBC was Nintendo's second handheld video game console and the first major revision of the original Nintendo GameBoy. It was released in Japan on October 21, 1998 and to international markets in November. The GBC was released in North America on November 19, 1998.
The GBC had a clear, sharp color screen and a faster processor. It was small and ran all previous Gameboy games. However, the screen was not backlit, so it had to be used in a well-lit area. The GBC also did not include a game.
