First Play - Type:Rider (Gameplay Broadcast) | PS+ Free Game May 2017 | [ps4 720p60]
Trying out Type:Rider, one of the PS+ Free games for May 2017. Gaming Mike Jr. (his channel: https://goo.gl/ZCqhce) on controls, Gaming Mike on assist. We made it through the tutorial and the first four levels in this stream. Fun game! I can't say that I've ever seen a game based on typography before, but here you go.

Type:Rider is a game about the history of fonts and typography. As well as a 'standard' video game, a Facebook app was also produced (allowing people to create custom sentences) as well as a version specifically designed for educational and cultural facilities.
The player controls a colon (:) in the manner of a reversible motorbike, rolling and jumping around physics-based 2D levels. Each font has four chapters of either puzzle- or action-based platforming; action levels require the player to navigate various obstacles and themed on the font and relevant history, while puzzle levels require the player to get extra orbs (effectively just full stops, or small circles) to the level exit. We got through the tutorial and figured out how to beat the first four levels. Also played around with speed runs a little. Clever game! Fun to play. Good puzzler with an interesting setting.
Each font's chapters have 37 collectibles: each letter of the alphabet, the ampersand (&), and six asterisks. The asterisks are not required and often harder to collect, but provide illustrated histories of the font.
