Lesson learnt. Everything goes wrong edition. This is what happens when you overestimate the bandwidth available to you using an internet connection.

The settings were high (720p at 60 fps). Maybe these settings would have worked except for two short issues: Firstly was the background uploading of videos to YouTube; and secondly was the fact that the game was an online one further straining the connection.
