There is a barrier between the first "ring" of islands you start in the game and the more inner "ring" of islands. I first tried to go into the barrier and I had the notice telling me I had to up grade my sails first. I found what I need and made the upgrades to finally go through. I think it's safe to say this barrier you have to go through makes this game a survival game for sure. I had my mic off so you didn't hear my yelps as the rocks and bombs hit my island damaging the sails. I was so sure my house on the back and the animals were all gone by the time I made it through.
