AYANEO AIR: First Ultra-Thin OLED Windows Handheld
AYA NEO AIR is the first gaming handheld with an OLED display. According to AYA NEO, the device has a 5.5-inch panel that operates at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, which also makes the AIR a higher resolution option than other AYA NEO devices. AYA NEO AIR relies on low-powered Ryzen 5000 APUs, the TDPs of which it can configure as low as 5 W. However, the AYA NEO AIR Pro can boost to 18 W when needed, unlike the regular model. Fundamentally, the AYA NEO AIR and AYA NEO AIR Pro are the same devices, but there are a few differences. For one, only Pro models come with more than 256 GB of storage. Also, AYA NEO equips Pro models with a larger battery that adds up to 45 g compared to the entry-level configuration. Unsurprisingly, Pro models are more expensive than regular AYA NEO AIR units, although by as little as US$20 in some cases. At launch, AYA NEO will offer the AYA NEO AIR-series in five configurations, most of which with the Ryzen 5 5560U. As it stands, only one configuration contains the Ryzen 7 5825U, which has two more cores and 4 more threads than the Ryzen 5 5560U. For reference, both APUs hail from AMD's Barcelo family, a refresh of Cezanne U-series APUs that feature Zen 3 CPU cores. As such, the AYA NEO AIR has a Radeon RX Vega GPU, regardless of whether you choose a standard or Pro model. So far, AYA NEO has confirmed that the AYA NEO AIR-series will begin shipping in early August 2022, but only for non-Pro configurations. By contrast, the company estimates that AYA NEO AIR Pro pre-orders will start shipping a month later.
