FIX: Wheel resistance or lock-up when attempting to free spin: Ego Electric Mowers
While attempting to just push my Ego mower with the wheels spinning freely, sometimes I would suddenly get a lot of resistance, as if the SP motor re-engaged and I was pushing against it. I can hear the "whine" of the motor. This would happen even if I am not using the self-propel feature at all: just trying to manually push the mower around EVEN WITH NO BATTERY IN. The fix was originally identified by a user named SKieffer on reddit, who said that the wheel internals are overloaded with grease from the factory that cause some of the small moving components to "stick". In this video I show how to take it apart, so you can clean out the excess grease.
This actually worked for me! I went from having wheels locking up every minute, to doing a full 20-minute mowing sessions with no self-propel at all, and they never re-engaged. It should work for the following models:
LM2130SP
LM2135SP
LM2156SP
LM2236SP (mine)
LM2230SP
LM2244SP
