6after getting another motherboard it worked on an went to bios on an external monitor. but i still can't get anything to come up on the internal screen. i think i finally know what's wrong; bad video inverter. so yea, i could've just spent $10 on one of those instead of the $200 i invested in motherboards, video cables, fans, heatsinks, pretty much everything. i'll let you guys know how it works when it's all back together with the new video inverter. thanks for sticking with me for so long guys. it means a lot to me!
obtw, i switched the dell to windows 7 (home premium)
