in order to bypass the internal hdd connection, you need to get a second hdd caddy for one of the cd rom slots on the side. then you have to make sure that that hdd is at the top of the boot order. finally once it's all good and done you're gonna need drivers. so here's the link for them. but just a fair warning, it takes a VERY long time to download from there. does work though.
