From the outset, I knew there was little chance of me improving on the original track with a straight cover, since it is so beautifully composed and performed. So instead, I decided to leave the wonderful piano more or less unchanged, but hand that part over to be played on a music box. I used that as inspiration to compose an original strings section that I hope both separates my arrangement from the soundtrack version and gives it a unique identity, while still paying tribute to the original piece.
