8Caldogno small town in the region on Veneto Northern Italy. A quiet town with around 14,000 people. A 15 minute drive from Venezia, their’s not much to know about Caldogno expect Il Divine Codine (the Devine ponytail) was born here in 1957.

Since retiring in 2004 and despite Baggio having his Uefa Pro License, Baggio has never coached or managed,
A brief spell as Technical Director in the Italian football federation his only role since his playing days finished over 14 years ago.
Now this is all about to change thanks to Venetian born Fabio De’Longhi. De’Longhi born in 1967 and has lived in the city of Treviso all his life and is the current CEO of De’ Longhi the Italian appliance manufacturer with an estimated family net worth of just under 4 billion us dollars.
A life long Juventus fan Fabio tried to take over his hometown club Treviso as they headed for bankruptcy in 2009. A last minute deal breaker involving the ownership of the Stadium meant D’longhi would have to look further afield.
Fabio then had another failed attempt at buying a debt-ridden club this time it was Vicenza Calcio with allegations against Vincezia former chairman and CEO of reporting false profits with player exchanges with Parma. Fabio withdrew his offer and came up with a new plan in becoming a football club owner. Fabio formed the Golazzo Group,
5 former footballers joined the Golazzo Group I Periughi Casaraghi, Alesannadaro Del Piero, Giuseppe Signori, Ciro Ferrera and of Course Roberto Baggio. The Group had 268 International caps between them and their sole focus was to find a Venetian town that had no prior or current team in the top four tiers of Italian Football.
Caldogno became the groups number one choice, Baggio’s close relationship with the town's mayor Marcello Verazzo was key as Fabio De’Longhi and Diadora the Treviso-based Italian sportswear Giants who have a 30 year sponsorship with Baggio they purchased land where they would build a 15k seater stadium and training complex In a £50m project which would see the club have one of the best training and youth development facilities in the country
The Stadio De Longhi and the Diadora Training Complex became the home of the newly formed Caldogno Calcio nicknamed “L'Aquila Rossa” (the red eagle)
By the start of January 2018 the club was officially formed with Fabio D’Longhi at the helm as owner and president, the golazzo group formed the clubs board with Ferrera also overseeing Youth development and Roberto Baggio taking up the role as manager finally giving him his first taste of football management.
The club was prepared to start in the 5th tier of Italian football however in the close season of 2018 bankruptcy of a semi-professional in Serie D left an opening for a club in the 5th tier to apply for a license in Serie D for the 2018-19 season.
After the Italian football federation overwhelmingly voted in Caldogno Calcio’s favour due to the clubs infrastructure, facilities debt free and the £10m sat in the clubs bank. The Red Eagles would start life as a semi-professional club in Serie D.
