On June 25, 2019 the smokers' group FOREST (Freedom Organisation for the Right to Enjoy Smoking Tobacco) marked its 40th anniversary with a gala dinner at Boisdale of Canary Wharf in London. The event was attended by journalists, MPs, MEPs and special guests including Dr Madsen Pirie, president of the Adam Smith Institute; Brian Monteith, former Forest spokesman in Scotland, now a member of the European parliament; TV chef and restaurateur Antony Worrall Thompson; Mark Littlewood, director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs; and Claire Fox, director of the Academy of Ideas.
