Here's what I wrote when I posted this on FaceBook, July 9th, 2019:
"Saturday or Sunday night, I watched the first twenty minutes of Blade Runner (I've never finished it before) annnd then tested FLstudio's 20.5 update by revisiting an old 7/4 procedural game music experiment. Check out the new and verry Vangelis middle section!
"I wonder what the context for the tempo and style changes would be in the game. Obviously the third repetition of the phrase is meant to introduce combat/tension layers. I imagined the context being something like... paving over the natural world with a digital/virtual world in a literal sense. Like, you're a cyborg corrupted by an AI invented virus, losing your humanity as you unwittingly stomp out the last of all humanity--and after you complete each battle against the humans, the environment is taken over by a physical manifestation of the digital frontier, hence the slow down and style change filter and melancholy, y'know? Maybe there's still room for some tension elements even after the digital frontier paves over the natural world... Maybe the humans have ways of injecting immuno-defense bots (so to speak) into your vicinity--slaves to their masters as you are to yours--hunting you down and trying to cure your corruption, to save you in order to save themselves. The gameplay and aesthetic and tone would overall be like that of Dead Cells (crossed with Hollow Knight?), in my mind."
