Forging a knightly sword: stamping, heat treatment, finishing and testing.
the heat treatment is a combination of hardening and tempering by removing the sword just after boiling point of the oil. this gives a tougher slightly softer blade, good for impact weapons. The testing is done on a 17 century oak beam I scooped out of a dumpster container (very hard wood.)
