I'm new to speedrunning but a long-time fan of Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. I saw BusterMan's WR run on YouTube earlier this month and decided to give it a go.

I found a few new routes/strategies while practicing different segments and actually got a 1:17:40 RTA, 1:01:19 IGT during my first full-game practice run, but I wasn't recording. I tried again last night and recorded the run with my phone. I've ordered a capture card and should be able to upload a properly recorded run within the next week or so.

With a little patience and finesse, this route has the potential to become a sub 70-minute run. If new strategies are discovered, we could maybe even push this under an hour.

I'm pretty surprised that this game isn't more popular for speedrunning, especially considering how accessible it is. At the moment, there are no glitches necessary for WR runs, there's very little pure RNG, the general difficulty of the game is low, and it's available for download on Xbox Live for only $10. It's also a decently high profile game, being a LucasArts production with great voice acting, music, plot, etc. It's basically GTA in North Korea, but better in almost every way imo, which is not praise given lightly.

Debating streaming improvement attempts on Twitch. I've never used the platform before but I know that it's popular among runners/viewers. Would be interested to gauge interest here. Let me know what you think!
