EDIT5: Forgot to mention this video (warning its obviously incredibly dark, but I feel extremely important): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrXWsScRC0g
To me this is a profound video, and anyone who feels like they "shouldve seen the signs" should watch and understand. The quote is "The mission of killing myself DEPENDS on you not knowing about it". Extremely DARK, but I will finish with repeating, that feeling of awfulness could be so strong, that you decide to do something permanent, but if you recognise that its just a PEAK, and if you wait it out, there will, be a time that its not as strong, and you can begin to seek help.
Always wanted to make a video about depression. We've been feeling really good, and feel its dishonest to keep branding as "DEPRESSED MAN", will transition to "UPLIFTED MAN" XD. Either way, I was in a bad place, I never thought id get out of it, but it is possible.
Kinda just yolo'd it, but wanted to put something out rather then nothing.
Im pro AD's but dont think you should just go on them without thinking.
One thing we forgot to mention, is the initial effect of ADs at like 5 weeks (fluoxetine/prozac), is you will flip flop from baseline depressed mood, to launching into orbit (think laughing HEEHEEHEE while rubbing palms together rapidly) and then back to baseline depressed. This is obviously your body getting used to SSRIs.
We didnt talk about the actual function of SSRIs, but you can read about them, basically delaying serotonin (feel good chemical) re-absorbtion, so it lasts longer.
Will add anything if we think of it.
EDIT: I dont think you can even scratch the surface of this topic. This was obviously from the perspective of someone who was in the "Im going to try leave" stage BEFORE even starting therapy. You dont want to get to that point, its easier to recover the earlier you start.
Fluoxetine dilates pupils like certain recreational drugs, giving light sensitivity - Its so bad that if I go to an indoor night concert with strobing lights - Might eyes hurt even CLOSED behind sunglasses.
EDIT2: There are psychologists and psychiatrists that are either pro or against antidepressants. One thing I notice, is kinda why theres so much "bro science" in for example gear use for bodybuilding/sports, is that the person ACTUALLY took the drugs. Talking to a doctor whos never actually taken antidepressants, like you can read the theory about the chemicals or trials/studies, but have you ACTUALLY taken the drugs? No in most cases. So how can you tell me how im supposed to feel?
Ive come across Psychiatrists who are anti drugs. So you are anti your own profession? (Question Mark?)
Also psychologists themselves can be people who did or didnt ever have depression. This can affect their judgement of you. Similar to have you taken AD's, have you ever actually had depression?
Mirtazapine increases appetite, its used for anorexia, so be careful if you have issues with weight. Ive always been generic lanky nerd rake/underate due to autism (dont have time to eat). Even trying to get fat, I only got up to 109kg.
EDIT3: This negative side effects are primarily in the first 6months to 1 year. Ive been on for ages now, so dont really have any negative side effects anymore.
EDIT4: We intentionally didnt mention herpty derpty EXERCISE XD. While obviously being sedentary and inside all day is bad (stress manifests physically in the body/get the blood flowing out of your brain, post workout BEWST is real), I dont think you HAVE to do weightlifting to fix depression. I do it because I genuinely enjoy it, but after school and starting work we stopped making time for it. I dont have to convince myself to train, im excited, love the feeling of DOMS. If I dont train, i either am sick/hurt or dont have time. I think its better you reconnect with a physical hobby/sport you enjoyed pre depression/in childhood, rather then start SQUAT BENCH DEAD XD. I just think weightlifting is the most time efficient form of exercise, also you can eat whatever you want and eating more makes the training better XD. If you do decide to start strength training, obviously take it slow, if your originally a lanky nerd like me, literally EVERY part of your body is not ready for strength training, and will take ages to adapt, and will feel pointless for a long time! Also if your not confident in your kinetics (deadlift/squat), take a class at a gym, though I believe most self proclaimed experts have NO clue and are carried by PEDS.
EDIT5 (ABOVE due to importance)
