Forsaken Part 1: The Game Begins!
2Forsaken is described as a "3D First Person Shooter" by Wikipedia, but truth be told, it's kinda genre bending because it isn't as simple as walking up and shooting someone with your Needler. It's got flying elements, without having the forward momentum of other games in this era like Rouge Squadron. It's a hell of a lot of fun, and it's one of those early titles that let me develop good flying game skills.
(The emulator had some errors that you'll see from time to time, mostly with words on scree)
I won't describe each character you choose, but I will give you a basic. Some are faster, some are better armored, and some are balanced. Foetoid is the fastest and until you get hang of controls, one of the hardest. Clark Culver which I choose, is fast, but has some armor. LA Jay is the slowest, but also toughest, Trucker is slow, but still faster than some, armor is about the same as LA Jay, in fact, I think it out classes LA Jay, but it's the biggest making it easy to hit.
I suggest Clark Culver because it moves fast, but not super fast, and can take hits, but it's also one of the smaller ones, so it can evade well.
First Mission "Nuke" is a kill all baddies kind of level, for noobs, it's good to remember to look down and grab the green pod. This level is pretty easy, but remember, while it's clunky with it's sensitivity to turning, you've got excellent Maneuverability. Nuke is pretty simple and more of an intro to the whole game. I would advise playing this a few times if you are struggling with controls.
Knowledge Base is not a kill out baddies, but I treat it like it is because I have to retreat back to the starting point and I know my health will be low. The game is somewhat difficult all round, but this level being the second level kinda fucks up the difficulty curve as this is one of the hardest levels of the first group of levels. You kill all baddies,, don't touch shield power ups until you must have it, and then you fight a boss. Every time he pops down, just fly down behind him and shoot, I was probably using the wrong weapon.
