Fortnite On Apple Silicon M1 Mac Mini - Gameplay & Graphics Test In 4K 60 FPS

Fortnite Gameplay On Mac Mini M1 Gaming On Apple Silicon M1 Chip Graphic Resolution Test Low To Epic

So, what’s it like gaming on the Apple Silicon M1 for the new Mac Mini M1, MacBook Air M1 and MacBook Pro M1 using Fortnite.

In this video I’m testing Fortnite in 4K on the Mac Mini M1 and really pushing the new Apple Silicon M1 processor chip and its built in GPU graphics card to the limit.

This version of Fortnite is the full desktop version, which means that it has to be translated from X86 to the Apple Silicon M1 ARM CPU architecture using Rosetta 2. This is a way more CPU and GPU intensive compared to the traditional mobile iOS version for the iPad and iPhone.

I’m also using the 8GB RAM version of the Mac Mini M1, which means that the 8GB RAM has to be shared with the system memory requirements and also the V-RAM needed to drive the iGPU in the M1 processor.

In the test I’m using the four main global graphics quality settings in Fortnite, low, medium, high and epic.

Being totally honest, I was blown away by the performance in the mid and high settings. With a bit of tweaking to the separate graphics controls it is possible to get a solid 4K 60FPS gameplay in Fortnite on the Mac Mini M1. I’ll do a video soon showing my settings for 4K 60FPS which should work for any Mac that has the M1 CPU.

Hopefully this video proves that gaming on Apple Silicon M1 and gaming on the Mac Mini M1 are not just a reality but that this new M1 platform by Apple could end up being a serious gaming platform, especially once Apple start releasing more powerful versions of their Apple Silicon Chip.
