In the middle of Fortnite's big Galactic Battle Star Wars mini-season, Epic Games and Disney decided to give players the ability to have real-time audible conversations with Darth Vader himself in Battle Royale. However, this is was done with generative AI using voice files of the late James Earl Jones (with permission from his estate)....and it's NOT A GOOD THING!

Players immediately did what you would expect them to do: try to get around the AI's programming to make it use slurs and profanity. Despite the AI supposedly being programmed not to say these things, some players were quickly able to outsmart it. And it within a few hours, Epic had to patch the AI to try to keep it from happening again.

With the current voice actors strike still going on and now Epic and Disney introducing AI chat NPCs in Fortnite using a dead man's voice, how will this impact the future of the voice acting industry and video games? Time for another rant!
