Forza Horizon 5's Drive Story missions are like side quests - and as such, some will be better than others.

Forza Horizon 5 gives you the chance to explore areas of Mexico in a variety of different cars, both old and new. Among the many things to do in Forza Horizon 5 is play through Driver Stories, short side missions that make their return from Forza Horizon 4.

Stories offer a nice break from the traditional race and instead have you focus on completing objectives. The main goal is to reach a certain score, and you’re rated on a scale of one to three stars. Each one is unique with their own story to tell and slightly different things to do. Everyone is bound to have their favorites.

Test Driver Stories
Intro to the Coast-to-Coast chapter of the Test Driver: Horizon Apex story
We're putting all the test driver stories (Apex, Wilds, Baja, Rush and Street Scene) together as one story, since despite being identified as separate stories in the game, they all play out the same in terms of its story. After you establish each new outpost in the game, a new test driver story opens up.

While they do provide some fun missions, they all have the same structure. A guy named Juan the Technician needs data for the local university and gives you the chance to shred it up in a car. Only the data you’re collecting is what separates each Test Driver story, based on which story you’re currently doing. Thankfully each one is only three chapters, so they don’t last too long, and can still be a fun little break from the usual racing.

El Camino
Taking a photo near a totem during the El Camino driver story
El Camino involves you taking part in a treasure hunt of sorts by discovering lost totems scattered throughout Mexico. Once you find these totems, which are certainly not cursed, you’ll have to take a picture with them. While the story aspect of El Camino is alright with you seeing some truly beautiful vistas, it suffers from doing the same thing for the entire story.

All chapters of El Camino require you to reach the totem’s location and take a picture of it, as previously stated, within a time limit. If done consecutively, this can be quite repetitive and could make you lose interest quickly. Thankfully El Camino only has nine chapters so it doesn't drag on.

Lucha De Carreteras
A stare down between two luchadores during the Lucha De Carreteras driver story
Luchadores are huge in Mexican culture with wrestlers like El Santo becoming icons. Lucha De Carreteras sees you become a luchador named Toro Loco that, instead of wrestling, you drive cars and do some wild stunts. It’s an odd mix on paper, combining wrestling characters with racing cars, but it works surprisingly well in practice.

It suffers a bit from the lack of dialogue in the missions, since Ramiro insists you have to remain silent. But even that doesn’t take away the thrill of racing an actual monster truck through a city as the announcer loses their mind over it. Who would think when Forza Horizon first started that you would be doing that?

3
Vocho
The Volkswagen Beetle that you find during the Vocho driver story
For many, cars are a piece of a person, and they hold sentimental value over a particular car that goes through the struggles of life with you. This is captured greatly in the Vocho story, which sees you team up with mechanic Alejandra to restore her papa Fernando’s old Volkswagen Beetle, which she calls the Vocho. While seeing this story play out is surprisingly interesting, this story really shines with all the different ways Alejandra modifies the Vocho.

In Vocho the Volkswagen Beetle is turned into a variety of different car types you would normally never associate with a Beetle. One chapter it’s a drag car that is easily capable of surpassing 200 mph. Another chapter the Vocho is a drift machine that can pull off some of the tightest drifts you’ll ever see. This even helps give you ideas of how you can tune not only your own Beetle, which you get for completing all Vocho chapters, but also other cars as well. The sky is indeed the limit for car tuning in Forza Horizon 5.

2
Born Fast
An intense race during chapter 2 of the Born Fast driver story
For those that miss the first Forza Horizon’s story where you tried to beat Darius Flynt to become champion, then the Born Fast story is for you. In Born Fast you go up against a group of street racers called the Born Fast society, led by a guy named Tristan,
