Forza Motorsport 7 Demo - How does it play with keyboard? (With Keyboard Overlay)
Forza Motorsport 7 demo was just released and it's available to download in the Windows 10 Store. It's a 23GB download and showcases 3 cars in 3 different tracks. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS in Dubai, a 2015 Mercedes-Benz Racing Truck in Mugello Circuit and a 2015 Nissan Nismo Motul Autech GT-R in Nurburgring. In this video, I'll be showing the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and Nissan Nismo Motul race with keyboard overlay, one in Pro Difficulty and the other in Highly Skilled difficulty. My fingers are getting cramped, so that's why I want played on 1 difficulty below Pro for the Nissan Nismo race.
Watch in 1080p, 60FPS. Keyboard overlay link:

So how does it play with keyboard?
Just want to say, my driving isn't the best since it's my first Forza Motorsport game.
Since the Forza series is optimised for gamepad users, it plays well enough for keyboard users like myself. Unfortunately for some reasons, the throttle and brake input is different from Forza 6 Apex. In Forza Apex, there is a delay for throttle and brakes which allows better throttle control and ABS off braking. In this demo however, it's instant 0-100%. ABS off braking isn't an issue at straight braking, it becomes an issue during trail braking where a slight lock up in wheels causes understeer. Because of this, I probably have to play ABS on and traction control on high powered cars like the Nissan Motul in the final game. Steering wise, it's good enough for keyboard. They did a great job with Forza Horizon 3, and it still good enough for me in FM7 despite being more of the Sim side.
Performance on PC:
In my few hours of gameplay, frame rate wise it isn't an issue, but there is occasional frame freeze where the game froze for about 2 seconds and then continue. I'm not the only one having this issue too. It happens like every 15 mins once. I still get game crashes unfortunately, it crashes 2 times so far in my few hours of trying the demo. Loading times is a bit long too and the transition from the main menu to getting in the race isn't smooth since it doesn't have a loading screen.
Physics and Gameplay thoughts:
For some reasons the Porsche's response felt a bit sluggish with a bit of input lag. I'm not sure how a real Porsche 911 GT2 RS handles, while it handles really well under control, it's handling character drastically changes from understeer to oversteer. It also seems to drift a bit too easily? There are already videos of people doing Initial D with this Porsche. I have already understand it's handling but I'm not sure if this represents the real life car properly. I don't have issues with the Nissan Nismo Motul, it handles great both dry and in wet/rain conditions.
Future videos:
As usual I will be uploading mostly online/multiplayer races with a bit of Rivals.
Now obviously since I'm using assists, and keyboard, I will probably be a bit weak in lobbies in the final game, especially since Forza Motorsport has quite a bit of Esports history. My upcoming videos will probably leaning towards entertaining races since getting top 3 will probably be difficult.
