Frak's back! Comparing the 1984 and 2020 versions of the BBC Micro classic!
4Frak! was a classic 8-bit game for the old BBC Micro, originally released in 1984. 36 years later its author, Nick Pelling, has released a new version of the game, updated to run on modern PCs and available for only $6 on Steam.
As well as doing away with the need for an emulator, the new version of Frak! features smoother, flicker-free animations and 55 levels compared to the original's 3. There are also new mechanics such as moving meanies, vertically-scrolling levels, moving platforms, movable platforms and bouncy platforms. The graphics are otherwise identical to the original's though, making this feel just like playing the BBC Micro version of the game.
